Brian Evans, the singer accused of attempting to extort Carrot Top, reportedly sent the comedian's then-legal team a video message that has resurfaced amid allegations that Evans threatened to release explicit material involving the comic.

The video was sent in May 2024, more than two years before Carrot Top's reported suicide attempt on Sept. 18.
Video Resurfaces Amid Carrot Top Extortion Allegations
As reported by Page Six, the video from Evans is about 90 seconds long. In it, he boasts that he spent a dozen years fighting another legal battle. Evans opened for Carrot Top twice at the Luxor in Las Vegas more than a decade ago.
"I know how to file, and I know how to respond, and I especially know how to promote," Evans said. "So this is all up to you, all of you. You're on the wrong side of this... But if this is the way you want it, this is the way it'll be."
Evans does not ask for money in the clip. However, the video has become relevant amid the recent allegations against him.
Court filings and a police report accuse Evans of seeking money from Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, while allegedly threatening to make private, sexually explicit material involving the comedian public.
A Police Report Was Filed
Page Six obtained a Lake Mary Police Department report filed on Sept. 3. According to the report, Carrot Top's attorney, Ronnie Bitman, went to authorities accusing Evans of attempting to extort the comedian.
Bitman told police that Evans claimed to have a USB containing "sensitive contents of an explicit video about the client," according to the report. Bitman alleged that Evans wanted $500,000 and threatened to send the material to tabloids if Carrot Top did not pay.
The report was filed as "information only — extortion of client." Because Carrot Top was not present and lived outside Lake Mary's jurisdiction, Bitman was reportedly told that the comedian would need to contact law enforcement where he resides.
A Sept. 3 filing in Broward County also accused Evans of demanding "significant sums" of money while threatening to place an explicit recording involving Carrot Top in a public court file. There it could be obtained by reporters.
Evans Has Not Been Charged
The allegations against Evans have not resulted in a criminal charge or finding.
An email attached to the filing shows Evans offering what he called "Path A": Carrot Top would pay $500,000 in exchange for the resolution of Evans' claims against the comedian. According to Carrot Top's legal team, Evans threatened to make the contents of the USB public if the offer wasn't accepted.
In the same message, Evans denied that he was threatening Carrot Top or attempting to "trade silence for money." However, he warned that if the deadline passed, the deal was "not an offer your client will ever see again — not even remotely close."
Evans has denied attempting to extort Carrot Top. He claims he never threatened to post a video in exchange for a settlement. He also said the purported footage had already been deleted as part of an earlier settlement.
The dispute between Evans and Carrot Top dates back to a 2024 settlement between the two.
