Jersey Shore is known for its iconic boardwalk piers and all the fun rides that come with them. But fun turned to horror on Thursday, September 3, after a toddler fell from a Casino Pier ride.
According to the New York Post, the incident occurred on the Casino Pier's iconic Sky Ride in Seaside Heights. The ride consists of a chairlift attraction that moves people along the pier.
At around 7:40 pm, the girl was reported to have fallen off the ride before it had started. The ride was around 12 feet up in the air. The girl ended up falling to the edge of the boardwalk, almost hitting the sand, according to Fire Chief Tim Farrell.
Another toddler on the attraction, a 3-year-old boy, stayed on the chairlift, as the staff rushed to turn it off. Firefighters needed to use a ladder to rescue the stranded boy.
Following the incident, the toddler was checked for injuries before being transported to a hospital with her aunt.
According to preliminary reports, there is no indication of a ride malfunction at this time. However, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs has confirmed that they are investigating the incident.

This Comes After a State Fair Ride Malfunctioned Recently
But this isn't the only concerning incident involving a ride recently. Another incident happened just two weeks ago at the Wilson County-Tennessee State Fair. However, this one had more casualties - with nine people being injured, and four hospitalized.
We reported on it when it happened. A "Wave Swinger" ride at the event had started to dip down, causing injuries as people's legs clipped fencing and metal attachments.
Reithoffer Shows, the makers of the attraction, released a statement about the incident at the time. "We are aware of an incident involving our Wave Swinger ride - the ride stopped, and as it was coming down, a few guests came into contact with the surrounding fence."
They also claimed there was no malfunction present within the ride. They cited a state inspector, who reportedly had "found no abnormality with the ride."
