Following Eric's death, Kouri wrote a children's book about processing grief. It's believed it was originally aimed to help her three sons process the loss of their father.

Despite being convicted, Richins doubled down, claiming that she wouldn't have killed the father of her children.

"Murder? No, absolutely not. I will not accept that, and I will not be blamed for something I did not do," Richins said.

Interestingly, Richins had earlier spoken of there always being people around you who are willing to tear you down.

"There is always going to be someone out there ready to tear you down, misrepresent you, lie about you, tell you half-truths and judge you," she reportedly said.

During the trial, Richins three sons all called for her to be locked away for life.

Eric Richins' Sister Gave a Statement About Kouri Richins

During the trial, Katie Richins-Benson, Eric's sister, provided a statement detailing why her late brother never filed for divorce.

"He believed Kouri was the most evil person he had ever met," Richins-Benson said. "He knew her sons did not like her and preferred to be far away from her, and he said he could never allow his children to spend half of their time alone with her."

Kouri Richins' Lawyer Issued a Statement Regarding the Inability To Apply for Parole

Following the sentencing, Richins' lawyer noted how the decision to remove parole as an option was a harsh result.

"A sentence of life without parole is saved for the most heinous crimes," Lewis said. "This simply is not the type of crime that we see get life without parole."

Despite the ruling, Richins is expected that she will appeal the verdict that has been passed down. For now, there is no further information regarding the case or the outcome of the trial.
