We usually associate Easter eggs with being colorful and fun. But something almost went terribly wrong on Saturday, April 4, and a child almost was injured by a huge drop of them. The horrifying close call took place at a field at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. Per The Tallahassee Democrat, a video of the incident depicts the frightening moment. No one would want to be accidentally positioned directly under all those falling eggs, but a youngster apparently inadvertently was.

Per the outlet, a person dressed as an Easter bunny was aloft in a crane to drop thousands of plastic Easter eggs into the field below. At the last second, a woman intervenes to save a youngster from being inundated by the huge egg cascade from way up above. According to the outlet, "They just barely got out of harm's way, managing to only get pelted by a few eggs."
When the danger had passed, someone yells "Go" and the throng races to scoop up the eggs. The event then seemed to proceed as normal.
The Scary Incident Drew National Coverage
Although things mercifully turned out alright, the incident got widespread coverage. Not only was it reportedly on social media, it also was on ABC's World News Tonight. The associate pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Jim Moore, was agog that there was so much interest. He told The Tallahassee Democrat that he was relieved that someone stepped in to prevent a hazardous calamity.
Moore gratefully said, "We were fortunate that one of our wonderful volunteers ran out there and grabbed him before the whole egg drop," He added, "She ran out there and was certainly the Johnny on the spot."
The Church Emphasizes Safety
Furthermore, he noted that the church values safety for all who participate in the event. They urge parents to keep their kids from running onto the field. They should wait to grab the Easter eggs until the drop is completed. Nevertheless, Moore realizes that "those little ones can get away." To enhance safety, Moore remarked that next year, there may be additional volunteers, plus ropes to hold the crowd back.
