Nearly 600,000 Pounds of Chicken Nuggets Recalled Due to Foreign Matter Contamination

Is this the week of food recalls or what? Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, a Waco, Texas establishment is recalling approximately 59,800 pounds of fully cooked chicken breast nugget products that may be contaminated with possible foreign matter contamination, specifically flexible rubber material according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). Currently, the recall affects four states (Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, and Texas). If you live in one of these states and recently purchased a bag of Pilgrim's fully cooked chicken breast nuggets, you should bring it back to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of the product immediately.

Nearly 60,000 Pounds of Chicken Nuggets Recalled


The recalled nuggets come in 4-pound bags with the "Best By" date of May 6, 2021 and lot code 0127 stamped on. You can also check the lot code, which contains the following numbers:

  • 0127105014
  • 0127105015
  • 0127105016

The recall was issued after a consumer complaint alerted the company that they had found rubber pieces in the frozen chicken nuggets. There have been no reports of illnesses or injuries due to possible rubber contamination in the nuggets. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

According to the USDA, the risk of injury pertaining to this recall is low and is labeled as a Class II Recall," which means "the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote". It's still enough to alert a recall on the nuggets though.
