The only word you can use to describe the Chicago Bears' loss to the Los Angeles Rams is "karmic."

The NFC Divisional Round matchup went into overtime when Bears quarterback Caleb Williams connected with Cole Kmet in the endzone with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter. It was another typical late-game comeback for the Windy City's NFL team.
But the Bears' luck ran out when Williams threw an interception. Once the Rams were in field-goal range, Harrison Mevis kicked a 42-yard field goal that punched the team's ticket to Seattle to take on the Seahawks.
But while Bears head coach Ben Johnson called the loss "disappointing," one can't help but wonder if this is some sort of supernatural revenge on behalf of Chase Rice. Yes, the "Ready Set Roll" singer and Johnson have history, and it's not exactly positive. We have the details below.
Chase Rice Played Halftime At Last Night's Game
Rice and Johnson have been friends for years. The duo reconnected last night, as the country singer was scheduled to perform under frigid conditions during the Windy City halftime show.
The two were teammates in high school in North Carolina, then went on to play at the University of North Carolina. Rice was a linebacker, but pivoted to music after an injury. Johnson was a walk-on quarterback for the Tarheels, then became a software developer. He returned to football after being hired as a graduate assistant at Boston College.
Johnson also married his high school sweetheart, Jessica, in 2014. But apparently, Rice had her first in eighth grade.
Rice Says Johnson "Stole" His Date
In an interview with Chicago's country radio station WUSN-FM, Rice took John's now-wife to a middle school dance.
"Jessica was my eighth-grade dance partner. It was Hawaiian themed," he said. "I think I had the balls to do one slow dance, that was it. I wouldn't say she was my girlfriend, but I took her to the dance, and I think I was in love with her. And then [Johnson] swooped in not long after that dance, stole her forever."
Rice joked that he was "still mad" about how things turned out. He also believes that Jessica's choice of Johnson was the best move.
"I know the one person who got the best benefit of that is Jessica," said Rice. "Not only is he, I think, just a better human being than me, now he's richer than me. Jessica chose wisely."
While it's easy to blame karma for the Bears' loss yesterday, Rice truly seems to hold no ill will toward Johnson.
"I'm really proud of him to be where he's at," he shared. "It's very well deserved."
