Yuri Nakamura, the star of Netflix show Romantics Anonymous, has died at the age of 44. As reported by Deadline, she passed away following a battle with rectal cancer.
Her death was confirmed by her representative agency, Alpha Agency. In a statement, translated from Japanese, they wrote, "On September 1, Yuri Nakamura passed away following a battle with rectal cancer. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness shown to her during her lifetime and offer our deepest condolences."
They confirmed that the Netflix star's funeral has already been held, and thanked fans who "warmly supported" her.
The agency also explained that this isn't the first time she had battled cancer. "Nakamura had previously been diagnosed with cancer 13 years ago." However, she didn't want to "cause unnecessary concern amongst colleagues". So, she battled it silently, before going into remission.
But, "In January last year, the cancer was discovered again", and, by August, "she suffered another bowel obstruction and was suddenly told she only had a short time left to live."
They added, "She remained composed, never losing her beautiful, gentle smile, and was able to cherish her final moments with her family and those closest to her."

The Netflix star was most well known for her central role in the Romantics Anonymous series. There, she played a psychologist named Irene. The show reached the top of the Japanese series chart on Netflix, being enjoyed by people worldwide.
She also featured in a number of other shows and movies. These include 2007's Love Letter From Heaven, 2013's Like Father, Like Son, and 2017's The 8-Year Engagement. She was also working on NHK's drama series Dangerous, but this had to be stopped as her cancer tragically worsened.
Commenters on her social media mourned her passing. One commenter wrote, "So you had been battling illness all along, had you? I am deeply moved by the memory of how you never revealed your illness and always maintained a smile."
Another lamented, "She was such a beautiful woman, and I loved her so much ?????? It's far too soon; it's so heartbreaking ??"
