Charlie Daniels wants to shine a light on the real experiences of cowboys with his upcoming album, Night Hawk.
The 79-year-old multi-instrumentalist is prepping a new project which "stories from the trail, told by cowboys around the campfire through the years." The record will feature a mixture of traditional cowboy songs with a purposeful acoustic touch. The stripped-down presentation is meant to echo the way they were played decades ago, whether it be on the trail or circled around the fire.
"Real cowboys are not glow in the dark characters who go around fighting rustlers and cleaning out saloons with their fists," Daniels said in a statement. "The actual working cowboy is a hard working, different breed who spend endless hours in the saddle and as Louis L'Amour said, they 'ride for the brand.' Night Hawk is a tribute to the working cowboy and his way of life."
Night Hawk is set for release on Aug. 26. Fans can pre-order a copy of the record beginning Aug. 15. The first 100 discs ordered will feature an autograph from Daniels himself.
