On December 18, it was announced that David Murphey, "90 Day Fiancé" star, had passed at the age of 66. He passed at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, and his family stated he had been suffering from "health issues over the last several years." It has since been revealed that Murphey died of heart-related problems, according to TMZ.

According to the outlet, a Clark County, Nevada spokesperson said that, among the heart-related issues Murphey suffered, he had cardiac arrhythmia and hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Moreover, Murphey had a history of pulmonary embolism and even fought liver cancer, according to the outlet.
According to Mayo Clinic, cardiac arrhythmia happens when the body fails to communicate properly with the heart. This causes the heart to not work properly. Cleveland Clinic states that hypertensive cardiovascular disease happens after a preceding time of unmanaged high blood pressure. Finally, a pulmonary embolism is when a blood clot travels to an artery in the lung from other parts of the body, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

David Murphey's family shared the sad news to Murphey's followers on Instagram. "We are deeply saddened to announce that David Murphey, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at home on December 11, 2024," reads the statement. "He was 66 years old,"
According to the post, David Murphey was "a veteran, small business owner, and software engineer." Previously, he worked for the Clark County Treasurer's Office, H&R Block, and IGT before retiring. His family also mentioned him as a member of "90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days."
"His time on the show allowed him to connect with viewers, see the world, and share his experiences with his thousands of followers on Instagram," the family wrote. "He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans. David has survived by his two sisters and his cat Gamera. The family asked for privacy during this difficult time."
David Murphey appeared in the fourth season of the "90 Day Fiancé" spinoff in 2020. The show details his relationship with Lana, a Ukranian woman he met online on a dating site. They would get engaged, only to split shortly after.
