Be careful what you post onine. That is one of the lessons that influencer Catherine Ebs has probably learned lately. She posted an ill-considered, rather snarky video making fun of a small grocery store and the pushback has evidently been intense. Now, Ebs is trying to make amends to those who were offended.

In the TikTok video, we see Ebs walking through the Montauk, New York, Sam's Club store selecting her purchases. She narrates as she strolls through the aisles looking at the products on shelves. Ebs does not like what she sees. "We are in this teeny tiny little town in the mountains and we're gonna try and hopefully get all of our groceries for the next four days. This is so small-town vibes. It's not even funny. I have a feeling this is not gonna be good news."
She went on, "I'm just sitting here laughing. Their fruit does not look good. Like, all their fruit looks bad ... I'm mad at Sam's. Sam's Club and I are not friends. Lowkey, we should just order out cause this is crazy." (Ebs was accompanied by her pal, Lauren, per People.)
After Getting Flak, Ebs Made Another Video To Explain and Apologize
On Monday, July 13, Catherine Ebs posted another video, this time on Instagram, to clarify the first one and do some clean-up after the harsh fallout. She said, "I wanted to come on because I'm not someone to not address the situation, especially at this scale."
Ebs went on, "Looking back, the video I posted walking in the grocery store — did I have a bratty bad attitude? Yes. I was very, very, very frustrated with the day. I spent weeks to make sure that everything went to plan and us girly pops putting all the pressure on our shoulders to make sure family birthday parties, family parties, family weekends, family trips, everything goes well."
Ebs was evidently planning to spend the July 4 holiday with loved ones and was excited about it. When things went sideways, her stress overflowed and found an outlet in the video.
She Addressed Her Detractors
Catherine Ebs next spoke directly to her critics. She seemingly hoped they would send a much different, more thoughtful message. "I wish the people that took this moment for their own virality. If they meant to make such an impact and they wanted to make such an impact I wish they would have been like, 'Hey let's like let's use her name for the clout, but let's use it for impact. And the impact is every single person does deserve fresh produce and not bleached eggs, not rotten cucumbers —like, everyone deserves that."
She ended on this note of contrition. "If you want to be here, you're welcome to be here. If you're not, that's totally understandable, but just know from the bottom of my heart I truly am sorry,"
