Carrie Underwood and Kane Brown were among the big winners in the country categories at the 2018 American Music Awards, which aired on Oct. 9.
Rising star Kane Brown won three awards, taking home the trophy for Favorite Male Artist — Country, Favorite Song — Country, and Favorite Album — Country, at the fan-voted award ceremony. Brown is the first country artist to win the most American Music Awards in one night without having won one previously.
Underwood, who performed new song "Spinning Bottles" at the award ceremony, won the award for Best Female Artist — Country and took the moment to thank her fans.
"I have an incredible team of people that make my universe go 'round so thank you so much, but tonight is all about the fans," Underwood said. "Thank you so much. You have shown so much love and support for me for the past few months of my life—well, my whole career, honestly, but especially these past few months. I feel it."
The win earned Underwood her 13th American Music Award.
Later in the evening the country star took to social media to share more thoughts on support from the fans and being a part of a community of women in country music.
"I made absolutely no sense in my speech and didn't say half of what I should've, but I want you all to know that your support means everything to me! Also, I am beyond honored to be in the company of such talented ladies like @marenmorris and @kelseaballerini to represent the women of Country Music tonight," Underwood wrote.

Next year, Brown will kick off his Live Forever Tour, his first as a headliner.
Underwood will embark on her Cry Pretty 360 Tour in May of 2019.
