Carly Pearce Reveals The One Deal Breaker She Has In Any Relationship

Carly Pearce isn't willing to compromise on one thing, at least when it comes to dating. The Kentucky native reveals that, while she might bend on many things, there is one trait in a potential suitor that is an immediate deal breaker.

"Being cocky," Pearce says. "I don't want all that. I need a confident, sweet guy."

Pearce went through a public and painful divorce with singer Michael Ray in 2020, after only eight months of marriage. She then dated realtor Riley King for two years, splitting in 2023. More recently, Pearce dated her former drummer, BC Taylor, although they seem to have amicably ended their relationship as well.

Pearce's love life might not have worked out for her, at least not yet, but her professional life couldn't be better. She has a Top 20 hit with "Truck on Fire." The song is from her hummingbird album, released last year. Pearce wrote the song with Lady A's Charles Kelley and Justin Ebach

"It was so fun. I feel like sad songs and sass have always been two things that I've really gravitated towards," Pearce says on Apple Music Country's Today's Country Radio, adding that she was able to "let loose" on the entire record.

"I really wanted to write something that just gave girls an anthem to just feel powerful," she adds. "And don't we all have all these crazy dreams in our head of burning down the thing that said human that hurt us loves the most?"

Hummingbird Part 2

Hummingbird was released in 2024, the follow-up to her painfully honest 29: Wrritten in Stone record. Released in 2021, all of 29: Written in Stone was about her healing following her split from Ray. She had hits with "What He Didn't Do" and "Never Wanted To Be That Girl, the latter a duet with Ashley McBryde that earned them a Grammy Award.

Pearce recently announced the release of hummingbird: no rain, no flowers, a deluxe version of the original record, with five new songs. The new project will be out on March 14.

"'Hummingbird' was my healing journey after '29,'" Pearce shares. "I felt like there were a few more songs to be shared before I close this chapter."
