A road rage incident occurred in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, that had a driver fearing for their life, per CTV News. The extended assault from a driver in a Toyota Rav 4 had James Turner on the phone to dispatch, as he got rammed and pushed along the icy roads.
On December 30, at Highway 11 and Highway 65, Turner merely flashed the Toyota Rav 4 after recklessly swerving into oncoming traffic before swerving back into the correct lane, according to an interview with the outlet.
Turner had flashed the Rav 4 as a reminder to pay attention. The angry driver wasn't having any of it, however, as he then swung around to strike Turner.
Shocking dashcam footage shows the Rav 4 approaching Turner before hitting him. The Toyota continued to push Turner off the highway, over a bridge, and finally off the road. The whole time, Turner was on the phone to dispatch as he kept getting rammed and pushed by his attacker. This scenario could easily have ended in Turner's death.
"He's going to try to run me into the bridge. I'm in danger right now," Turner told dispatch. "I'm in danger," he kept repeating.

Speaking to the outlet, Turner said, "The bridge — it's at least a 200-foot drop into a frozen/cold/icy water that's very deadly at this time of year as local people well know. So when you see him push me onto the bridge and slam me against the side, I was worried. I wondered if my legacy was good — whether or not I'd been kind enough, whether or not I was a good example to my nephews and nieces and my future stepchildren."
When police finally arrived, the Rav 4 had fled. Thankfully, they were able to catch up.
Posting a
statement to Facebook, authorities said, "After the collision, OPP made several attempts to stop the vehicle which resulted in the deployment of a spike belt. The suspect vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested. There were no injuries reported however the driver was transported to a local hospital as a precaution."The driver's name was unreleased, although we know he was 34 years old. He was hit with many charges, for evading and hurting officers and for reckless driving. Considering just how dangerous his acts were, I think he should also be facing attempted murder.
