After an argument broke out on a Miami-Dade County Transit bus, two people were shot and killed by the bus driver.

The cause of the initial argument is still unclear. According to the report, the investigation is still ongoing. It is not yet known if the bus driver will face charges for killing two of his passengers.
At around 3 am, a 911 call was placed. An argument had broken out between two male passengers and the bus driver. As the argument escalated, the bus driver pulled out a gun and shot both men. Police arrived on the scene and arrested the driver. The two injured men were rushed to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital by helicopter.
Both men were in critical condition. Sadly, they both died of their injuries. At present, it is unclear if the driver will face charges for the murder. It is also not known whether either man had a gun themselves.
Bus Driver Should Never Have Had A Gun
Bus drivers in the Miami area shouldn't be carrying guns at work, according to a spokesperson. "Transit operators are not allowed to be armed," the spokesperson said after the incident. They added that the company is working in full cooperation with the investigation into the killing of two men by the bus driver.
County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, chair of the county's Transportation committee, commented on the tragic murder. "Another example of why people shouldn't have guns. Two people would still be alive today if there had been a shouting match rather than a shooting match. I'm heartbroken."
The fact that the bus driver was able to show up to work armed is alarming. There is a level of trust and understanding when it comes to public transport and employees. The situation should have never escalated to the point of murder.
Of course, people shouldn't be allowed on public transport with guns. But that needs to include the driver, too. There shouldn't be any reason for either a passenger or bus driver to be carrying a deadly weapon in a civilized society.
The bus driver will undergo a full investigation as to why they were carrying a gun and killed the two passengers.
