Think about your house. There's probably some pretty gnarly hiding spots in there, right? Your closet, maybe behind a sofa or something? But none is more crazy than this.
As reported by WSB-TV, a man has been charged after being caught hiding in a fridge after allegedly burgling a Gwinnett County apartment. The incident happened last Thursday, March 19. Joseph Quintanilla, 25, was found to have entered the property, which was under renovation.
Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle of the Gwinnett County Police told the outlet about the situation. Police showed up to the apartments near Norcross in Georgia, after a neighbour said they heard banging sounds from the apartment below.
The apartment was supposed to be vacant, and under renovation. But, "they ended up opening the unplugged fridge and the person was hiding in the refrigerator," Winderweedle said.
Police say the man ended up squeezing into the fridge. He somehow stayed there whilst officers cleared the place room by room. They went at it with an expected surgical precision, clearing every corner one by one. And then they got to the kitchen.

Quintanilla didn't want to come out, despite the police commanding him to come out. After a good deal of waiting, he gave up and come out. And the reason he gave to the cops for him sitting in there.
"It's cold outside", he said. Puzzling, right? Especially as we all know what fridges do? But, he must have thought that was a pretty good reason to tell the police.
And it turns out he did more than just hide. He also caused property damage in the ruckus! Police have said Quintanilla ended up pulling electrical wires out of newly hung sheetrock. This caused $2,000 in property damage - upping his charges to both felony burglary and felony criminal property damage.
Winderweedle explained that this was a very unexpected surprise. "When officers are searching, they're searchign kitchen cabinets, closets... any place where soembody could be hiding. And the unplugged fridge was enough room inside for this man to hide."
