Tattoos are a common fact of everyday life these days. Countless people have ink to show their individuality and bring some personality to their external appearance. For the most part, the industry has become incredibly safe with a long list of tried and tested practices.

However, Bunnie Xo hasn't always been lucky when it comes to adding new art to her body. In fact, one instance almost cost her a limb and potentially her life. In a recent excerpt from her new book, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, she revealed just how bad her tattoo-gone-wrong turned out.
Bunnie writes about a "drug-induced manic episode" where she got two stars tattooed on her wrists in some random dude's garage," People reported.
"He moved on to the next one, and for some reason, the pain felt good. I wanted more," Bunnie explained. She then asked the tattooist to "go deeper," leading him to dig into her skin for hours."
"It went so deep that he hit my wristbone. I started bleeding so much he finally had to stop," she continued.
Unfortunately, the amount of drugs Bunnie had taken prior to the tattoo left her body fighting a losing battle as it tried to heal itself.
"I was on enough drugs that my body didn't have a chance in hell of healing itself normally, and the fact that I'd had ink drilled into my bloodstream didn't help," she explained. "My entire arm was infected. My wrist was the size of my biceps, and my fingers were swollen like balloons. The whole room smelled like death."
The Doctor Warned Bunnie Xo That She Could Lose Her Hand
Bunnie Xo then revealed that upon seeing a doctor, she was warned that there was a possibility she could lose her hand. He then proceeded to put her on a drip. She was warned that if she'd arrived even 10 minutes later, amputation may have been needed.
After seeing her bloodwork, the doctor then warned Bunnie that if she didn't quit the drugs, she was going to kill herself.
"He sent me home with antibiotics and the fear of God," she writes. "I was done with m*th. I would never touch it again."
Fortunately, Bunnie Xo's life has taken a significant turn for the better. And now, if she does choose to get any more ink, it won't be inside some random guy's garage. Hopefully, we've all learned to avoid that.
