Bruno Mars Announces His Fourth Studio Album After Making Fans Wait for a Decade

Bruno Mars is coming back! The successful R&B singer is finally releasing new music, and we could not be more excited.

Bruno Mars is known for taking a bit of a "quality over quantity" approach when it comes to music. However, he's just announced he's done working on his fourth studio project after 10 years of flying under the radar. Even though, for Mars, "flying under the radar" actually means forming a new band, holding a successful residency in Las Vegas, and topping the charts with hits like "Die With A Smile" and "APT", but you get the point.

The point being: since Mars released 24K Magic in 2016, he hasn't put out any new full-length projects. In a recent post on X, Mars let fans know this was changing with a subtle yet effective message. "My album is done," the "That's What I Like" singer announced on Monday, January 5.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mars explained why he's only released four albums so far. Part of it has to do with his creative process. "I wish it didn't take me this long..." shared. "But for some reason, I have to go through this journey. Each and every single song has its own story, its own journey, and its own problems. It's a puzzle that I have to figure out."

Still, his delay in releasing new projects hasn't stopped Mars from holding the #4 artist spot on Spotify. Not to mention, the guy still has over 114 million monthly listeners.

A Young Bruno Mars Talks About Being True to His Art

Before Mars was keeping fans on the edge of their seats with new releases, he was just a regular guy. Mars moved to LA in 2003, with a dream of making music and the skill to back it up. In an interview with CBS, Mars talked about what it was like to get signed in his first year in LA. According to him, it made him realize a lot about himself as an artist.

"I was just really young, and I feel like I didn't know. It's not like you're just going to have hit songs fall in your lap, and nobody should tell you what kind of artist you need to be, and that's what was happening," he admitted at the time.

Bruno was signed and dropped from Motown Records in 2005, mainly because the label didn't know how to market his unique sound. "As opposed to me walking in there saying this is what I am this is my music take it or leave it, I walked in there with nothing," Mars admitted. "It was a different time back then too."

Now, Bruno Mars is an artist who boasts five RIAA Diamond-certified singles, 9 #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and 2 Super Bowl appearances under his belt. We know that whatever musical journey he embarks on next, it's gonna be worth our while, which gives us all the more reason to get excited.
