It has been two years since it was revealed that Bruce Willis was diagnosed with aphasia and one year since his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis was confirmed. While his wife, Emma Heming Willis posts the occasional picture and video of Bruce, one heartwarming Instagram story of Bruce singing and laughing has the actor's fans happy.
Videos by Wide Open Country
In the story published by Emma, Willis appears yodeling with a happy demeanor on a porch. "All right, folks, this is..." he says before he starts laughing, saying he is sorry before the video cuts. The video itself is captioned by Emma, reading: "Him. Always."
This Instagram story has not been the first time Emma has shared sweet pictures or videos of Bruce Willis. Fans have also enjoyed seeing Bruce carrying his and Emma's daughter, Evelyn, on his shoulders. The pair were laughing and appeared extremely happy. The post said that Bruce's shoulders were the "best seat in the house."
Willis' fans appreciate Emma's posting about Bruce, given how he disappeared from the spotlight following his diagnosis. "I really love that you give us a chance to see him as dad and husband. Not the movie star but a human being," one user wrote. "Thank you. I hope all the good things for you and your family."
Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia
In an interview with Town and Country, Emma talked about his husband, Bruce Willis, and how the diagnosis caught her off-guard. "Bruce has always had a stutter, but he has been good at covering it up. As his language started changing, it [seemed like it] was just a part of a stutter, it was just Bruce," Emma told the outlet. "Never in a million years would I think it would be a form of dementia for someone so young."
"This disease is misdiagnosed, it's missed, it's misunderstood, so finally getting to a diagnosis was key so that I could learn what frontotemporal dementia is and I could educate our children," she continued.
Emma is fighting today to bring more attention to frontotemporal dementia, expecting a treatment or cure to be developed. She is trying to bring an FTD registry that is currently being pushed in New York City to California.
