According to local outlet LaPrensa, Madelyn Rosely Caracun, 24, and her fiance, Davilson Gesell Canimac Miranda, 19, were out on a motorcycle delivering wedding invitations on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024.
Authorities report that a truck on the same road as the couple had an accident or mechanical failure. While details about the incident aren't available, it caused a "transmitter" on the vehicle to dislodge. Sadly, the debris hit the motorcycle, causing a catastrophic crash.
The incident took place on the San Cayetano Estate.
Images revealed by LaPrensa show a large pipe, allegedly from the truck, which "directly impacted" the motorcycle. Another photo shows a picture of the bike on its side. The motorcycle doesn't look too bad for wear in the image, which could be because of the angle. It could also indicate that the riders took the full brunt of the impact.
The photos also show a harrowing image of family members mourning the bride-to-be.
Delivering The Invitations Cost This Couple Everything
According to authorities, Madelyn was killed instantly. Davilson was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition. The report notes that paramedics tried to save Madelyn at the scene but were unable to resuscitate her.
Images of the incident are circulating on social media, including a short video on TikTok. The footage shows a blue screen set up around the crash site, surrounded by police tape with an ambulance in the background.
El Helrado reports that the groom's family demands justice and an inquiry into the accident. It's also reported that authorities have yet to reach a conclusion regarding the truck driver. Comments on social media show a mix of sadness and anger. Many mourn for the tragic loss of the bride, while others call for action and a prompt investigation.
The couple's loved ones are planning to raise money for Davilson's medical bills and treatment.
