What Did the "Breaking Bad" Stars Talk About?
Esposito, who played Gus Fring on the acclaimed television drama, told TMZ that Mitte was a dear friend and lovely human being. However, he kept the details of their conversation to himself.
He added that he believed Mitte's philanthropy would ultimately be his legacy.
Mitte was an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children's. He also led his own charity, the Mitte Foundation. The organization supported charitable efforts while challenging stereotypes of those with disabilities.
Esposito also left a touching tribute to Mitte on social media last week.
"No words can express what your friendship has meant to me," he wrote. "I will remember the laughter, the rapture of pure joy in the loving moments we have shared. I will remember the magnitude of your kindness, your philanthropy, your being in service to others before yourself."
He added, "You will forever live in my heart, representing how pure love can change the world!"
RJ Mitte Was Faced With a Decision Before His Death
Before his death, Mitte was reportedly being forced to choose between his mom and his fiancé, according to sources. They said his partner was getting "frustrated" with his mother ahead of the wedding and gave him an ultimatum: marry her or end his relationship with his mother.
Several days after the report, Mitte's mother confirmed in an interview that he and his fiancé had "struggles" in their relationship. However, she did not confirm the alleged ultimatum.
"I can share certain things, but some things are private and are not my story to tell," she said. "I don't know all of the conversations between the two of them."
Mitte's mom then added, "I can say there were struggles. But those conversations were private between R.J. and me and between him and his friends."
