The 18-year-old plans to legally drop Pitt as his surname, according to Page Six, citing sources close to the situation. However, the alleged insider claims no legal action has taken place yet.

"Knox hasn't filed anything yet, but it's only a matter of time before he drops Pitt from his last name," the alleged source told the outlet.  "It's inevitable. It's just a question of when, and there's no timeline for that right now."

The alleged insider went on to claim the veteran actor, whose next film, The Further Mis-Adventures Of Cliff Booth, drops later this month, isn't pleased with Knox's decision.

"The whole situation is heartbreaking for Brad," the source told Page Six.

Pitt and Jolie share six children: 25-year-old Maddox, 22-year-old Pax, 21-year-old Zahara, 20-year-old Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. If Knox follows through with dropping Pitt as his surname, he'll be the fifth of the former couple's children to do so.

Knox's Twin Sister Reportedly Already Legally Dropped Brad Pitt's Surname

Meanwhile, Page Six reports that Knox already made the surname change in a recent milestone ceremony.

The teen went by "Knox Jolie" when he accepted his high school diploma after graduating from Fusion Academy in Los Angeles in June. The ceremony was reportedly attended by Jolie, along with his siblings Pax, Zahara, and Vivienne.

However, Knox's twin sister Vivienne took it a step further than her brother. She reportedly made her surname switch legal earlier this week. On her 18th birthday back in July, Vivienne filed to have Pitt dropped and replaced by Jolie. A Los Angeles judge granted the petition for the legal name change on Nov. 2, according to Page Six. Per the outlet, the court documents listed "personal" reasons for Vivienne requesting the surname switch.

22-year-old Pax is the last remaining of the siblings to still carry the surname Pitt, and reportedly has no plans to change it.

Jolie and Pitt began divorce proceedings in 2016, and the divorce was finalized in 2024. However, the former couple's legal woes continue as they battle over their French winery, Château Miraval.
