Blake Shelton has recruited another country superstar to help out his team for the next season of NBC's The Voice.
According to US Weekly, Brad Paisley will serve as the mentor for Team Blake during the singing competition's upcoming ninth season. The magazine says the choice was a natural one for Shelton, as Paisley has helped him cope with his recent divorce from Miranda Lambert.
"Brad was a good friend to Blake," a source told the publication,"and it was great for Blake to have him there -- especially considering everything Blake is going through." The famous couple announced their separation on July 20 and Shelton returned to Hollywood for filming of the show just days after.
Paisley will help Shelton develop his team's talents once they get through the blind audition round. John Fogerty will act as the mentor for Adam Levine's team, while pop star Selena Gomez will work with Gwen Stefani and rapper Missy Elliott will advise Pharrell's team.
It won't be the first time Paisley will make an appearance on a televised music competition. He previously sat on the judge's panel for ABC's short-lived competition series Rising Star in 2014.
The ninth season of NBC's The Voice will premiere September 21.
