A young girl may finally be getting justice for her mother. The boyfriend of an Iowa mom who vanished 36 years ago, has finally been arrested. What caused the this woman's boyfriend to be arrested for a murder that was committed 36 years ago?

New Details On Murder That Happened 36 Years Ago
The NY Post shares that "Robert Davis, 61, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of Barbara Lenz, who was 31 when she was last seen on May 6, 1989." Although Barbara's body has never been found, new evidence has emerged linking Davis to the case.
Davis was 26 at the time that Lenz went missing. At the time, he told local authorities that he had dropped her off at her apartment before she went to visit her ex-boyfriend, the father of her 3-year-old daughter. He also proceeded to tell police that Lenz later called him and told him she was with here daughter.
However some facts were not adding up. A criminal complaint shared that "in the days prior to Lenz's disappearance she had expressed to several people that she was in fear of her boyfriend." Furthermore it shared that she "was trying to get away from him." Police also discovered that Davis had allegedly threatened to kill Lenz if she ever left him.
Furthermore, Lenz had reported suffering multiple assaults at the hands of Davis during their two year relationship. "Including being strangled to the point of unconsciousness which resulted in visible injuries to her." Davis himself even admitted to assaulting Lenz in a police interview. Claiming to have a "violent temper when things went wrong with Lenz."
He admitted to a fight in 1988 where he struck Lenz and proceeded in "choking her down" until she was unconscious. Then he proceeded to carry her unconscious body out of the apartment. The ordeal was witnessed by another apartment resident. So his violence was no secret.
What Cause This Boyfriend To Be Arrested For Murder
Oftentimes, altercations between the pair were sparked because of jealousy. Davis did not like Lenz going to Nebraska to visit her daughter and ex-boyfriend. A witness shared that Davis and Lenz fought on the day of her disappearance. Furthermore, that witness claimed to have seen Davis ""slashing her [meaning Lenz] with a sharp instrument across the face."
The same witness shared that it was odd that Davis was later seen at a bar claiming to be looking for Lenz when he had been with her earlier that day. Additionally, the NY Post shared that another witnessed noticed something strange as well. This witness saw that Davis and his brother "buried something in a rural area near Davis' home."
They specified, "Davis' brother visited the property with the witness and showed the witness where he had dug a hole for his brother and helped him bury something wrapped in plastic." Furthermore, Davis did not help his case when he told at least two people during arguments that they would "end up like Barbara."
Although Lenz's body has never been found, all signs of the current and ongoing investigation point to Lenz. So now, the boyfriend has been arrested for a murder that happened 36 years ago.
