Daniel Leonard, the son of boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard, was arrested several months ago. The reason? He allegedly possessed nitrous oxide with intent to inhale.

The Son of Sugar Ray Leonard Was Arrested in July
An officer saw the 25-year-old and another man "walking with an inflated balloon and a large cylindrical container believed to be a nitrous oxide tank" at 1:17 a.m. on July 7 in Santa Monica, California. A spokesperson for the Santa Monica Police Department shared what happened with the New York Post.
"As the officer approached, one man attempted to conceal the balloon behind him before dropping it to the ground," the spokesperson said. "The second man appeared to conceal the container at his side. Officers detained both men and confirmed the container was a nitrous oxide tank."
In addition to the nitrous oxide charge, authorities allege that Daniel was in possession of methamphetamine and sedatives/benzodiazepines during his arrest.
Daniel Leonard Received Four Charges
Court records show that Daniel was charged with four misdemeanors: unlawfully possessing nitrous oxide and a substance containing nitrous oxide, possessing MDMA, possessing alprazolam, and possessing dextroamphetamine.
Daniel is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 12.
This is not the first arrest for the son of Sugar Ray Leonard. He was then taken into custody on May 20 for violating a protective order the boxer put in place. It was filed after the two were involved in an alleged violent incident. Sugar Ray has accused Daniel of being an addict, a thief, and a "danger" to himself and his family.
"The police officers were needed at that moment," said Sugar Ray. "The police officers came, and he [Daniel] was escorted off our property because of where things were headed."
The order stated that Daniel must stay at least 100 yards away from Sugar Ray, his wife, and their home. However, the restraining order was dissolved on June 15 because neither party appeared for a court hearing.
