Randy Pedersen, a bowling legend who transitioned from his 13-time PBA Tour winning career into an iconic broadcaster, has died at the age of 64. As reported by the Daily Mail, his death was sudden.
The PBA released a statement confirming the star's passing. "The PBA is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Randy Pedersen... [He] was among the most important professional bowling figures of the past 40 years."
They continued by mentioning some of the highlights of his career. They explained that he won 13 PBA Tour titles before he "transitioned to television". There, he "became the longest-tenured broadcaster in PBA history".
Their statement concluded by saying their "thoughts and condolences are with his family and loved ones."
Pedersen became a millionaire because of his winnings from his iconic bowling career. It was the 2002 Pepsi Open that tipped him over the edge winnings-wise, making him the 24th bowling player to become one.
The bowling legend got his start in the TV world on ESPN in 2001. He was a mainstay with the network all the way up until 2018, when they severed ties with the PBA and let him go. After that, he moved to Fox Sports in 2019, before becoming an analyst for bowling for CBS Sports.
His cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Tributes have poured in across social media for the bowling icon and TV legend.
Lucas Wiseman, a writer, wrote, "RIP in an absolute legend in our sport. It was an honor to know him and spend time with him. Randy Pedersen, you will be missed by many."
Storm Bowling, the company behind lots of professional-grade equipment, also posted a touching tribute.
"Randy's impact on bowling reached far beyond his accomplishments as a Hall of Fame competitor. Through his unmistakable personality, passion, humor, and years as one of the sport's most recognizable voices, Randy helped bring bowling to life for generations of fans."
This is a truly tragic loss for the bowling community and beyond. May he rest in peace.
