The Boeing 737-800 ended up skidding off the runway on Saturday, the same day as the deadly flight in South Korea. The Boeing flight was flying from Norway to Amsterdam when it was forced to reroute to Oslo Torp Sandefjord Airport.
Pilots noticed smoke coming from the left engine and couldn't control the plane. The flight landed on the runway but veered off the tarmac moving at a low speed. Fortunately, none of the passengers and crew were injured.

Exactly what caused the mechanical issue remains to be seen. An investigative team arrived "to investigate the circumstances of the incident together with local authorities and the airport in accordance with aviation procedure, and retrieve the aircraft as soon as possible," according to the airline's statement.
It's just the latest flight disaster recently. The incident brings to mind the deadly flight in South Korea that killed 179 people. That disaster also happened on Saturday but proved to be more deadly.
Local fire chief Lee Jeong-hyeon spoke on the incident, "After the plane collided with the wall, passengers were thrown out of the aircraft. The chances of survival (were) extremely low," he says. "The aircraft has almost completely been destroyed, and it is difficult to identify the deceased. We are in the process of recovering the remains, which will take time."
Meanwhile, Boeing released a statement about that crash as well. "We are in contact with Jeju Air regarding flight 2216 and stand ready to support them. We extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones, and our thoughts remain with the passengers and crew," they write.
A surviving flight attendant, whose last name is Koo, reflected on what happened following the fateful crash. "Smoke came out of one of the plane's engines and then it exploded," Koo reportedly said.
