A body reportedly found in Spain on Thursday, March 19, has been confirmed to be missing American college student James "Jimmy" Gracey. He was a junior at the University of Alabama. A police spokesperson reportedly said that human remains identified as his were located at Port Olimpic.

Gracey, 20, apparently vanished in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Match 17. He was last seen when he was at Shoko, a waterfront restaurant and nightclub in Barcelona. Per Fox News Digital, his mom, Therese Gracey, said her son was with others that evening but eventually got separated from them. Gracey did evidently not come back to the Airbnb where he was staying.
Per the outlet, "Divers were seen entering the water with a stretcher around 7:05 p.m. local time and returned to the dock with a body bag 10 minutes later. It appeared to be full."
Reports Are Surfacing of Possible Foul Play in Gracey's Death
According to CBS42, police in Spain are looking into the possibility of foul play involved in Jimmy Gracey's death. A reporter for El Periodico named Gisela Macedo allegedly stated to CBS42 that Mossos d'Esquadra law enforcement personnel have seen some concerning video footage from CCTV. It supposedly showed Gracey accompanied by someone. That has given rise to speculation and suspicions about potential foul play.
The Gracey Family Released a Statement
Gracey's loved ones have issued a statement. It did not mention the tragic news of Jimmy's death. It said, "We are so grateful for the kindness and concern that has been shown for our family during this incredibly difficult time. We have made the decision to pause media interviews at this time to focus on being together and caring for one another. Thank you for respecting our privacy and holding our family in your thoughts and prayers. We will share updates if and when we're able."
He Was From Elmhurst, Illinois
Gracey hailed from Elmhurst, Illinois. He was the chaplain of the Theta Chi fraternity and was also its philanthropy chairman. Per the outlet, Gracey was "known for mentoring younger brothers and giving back to others." It sounds like Jimmy Gracey was a very kind-hearted person.
