A 35-year-old North Carolina man, Kevin Musser, who claims to be blind, was arrested and charged with three counts of murder. He had previously called 911 and reported three deaths at a Clarkton residence. Initially considered a person of interest, Musser is now being held without bond.

According to the
Bladen County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place on March 17, 2025. At around 7:30 p.m., Musser called 911, reporting the deaths of three men. These were subsequently identified as Daniel Dennis, 62, Randy Benton, 54, and Phillip Palmer, 32. According to WECT, who transcribed pieces of the call, Kevin Musser introduced himself as "Randy" to the 911 dispatcher.The dispatcher heard as "Randy" claimed to have been shot. When asked what type of firearm he was shot with, "Randy," that is, Musser, told the dispatcher that he didn't know as he was blind. Furthermore, Musser claimed that the three men had been shot dead.
Once police arrived, they were met with Kevin Musser, who was at the front door. As per the sheriff's office, Musser had bloodied clothing and a handgun. He then shut the door closed and "retreated out the back door." Deputies found him on the back door steps. Once inside, deputies found the deceased bodies of the aforementioned men. However, contrary to what Kevin Musser allegedly told the 911 dispatcher, the three men had been stabbed to death.
Charged With Murder
The sheriff's office then claimed that Kevin Musser had sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Chapel Hill Hospital. However, in an
update shared on March 19, two days after the incident took place and Musser sustained the reported "life-threatening injuries," he was booked into the Bladen County Detention Center.Kevin Musser was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for a controlled substance. He is currently being held without bond for the murder charges.
As per WECT, when asked about the relationship between Musser and the victims and how Musser sustained his injuries, Bladen County Sheriff McVicker said that the case was "under investigation." McVicker, however, said that there was no threat to the public.
