Blake Shelton plays Wyatt Earp in the trailer for the upcoming Netflix film The Ridiculous 6.
The country star has a small role in the new comedy, written and produced by Adam Sandler. The film is a parody of old-school westerns, and follows the story of six "ridiculous" brothers who wreak havoc in their tiny town.
Shelton plays a fictionalized version of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp, who tries to keep his town in order during the brothers' chaotic crime spree. The film features a long list of notable actors, including Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Akroyd, Jon Lovitz, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Lavell Crawford and Chris Parnell.
The new film has already attracted some controversy after it was revealed that a dozen Native Americans walked away from the set due to the "offensive" content of the script. According to Rolling Stone, some actors believe the script perpetuated negative stereotypes about their culture. However, one Native American actor who is featured in the film said that he believed critics should "lighten up," and that viewers should remember that the film is "a comedy, not a documentary."
You can decide for yourself when The Ridiculous Six hits Netflix on Dec. 11.
