2015 was an emotional year for country duo Joey + Rory. Right as Joey Feek entered hospice care after stopping treatment for cervical cancer, her family got the incredible news that they had been nominated for a Grammy.

The couple was named in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category, and are up against some of the biggest names in country music. Blake Shelton is also nominated for his duet with Ashley Monroe, “Lonely Tonight.” During a recent Q&A session on his Twitter account, Shelton revealed that he’s hoping Joey + Rory come away with the trophy.

Back in 2004, Rory Feek and Shelton’s paths first collided when the two recorded Shelton’s hit song, “Some Beach”, which was co-written by Feek. As news of Joey’s worsening condition spread, Shelton shared his well-wishes for the family.

“I never really got to know [Rory] that well,” Shelton recently told People. “He was always just someone I kinda knew, but to see what they’re going through as a family and what’s happening with Joey, what can you say? The courage that they as a family have displayed – it’s inspirational.”

The 58th annual Grammy Awards are set to air Feb. 15 live on CBS, and Wide Open Country will of course keep you posted.
