A Blake Shelton Song Inspired a New Hallmark Christmas Movie

There are plenty of Hallmark movies to choose from this holiday season, but only one was inspired by a country star's real life. Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas, which premiered on Dec. 9, is based on Blake Shelton's 2012 song "Time For Me to Come Home," written by Shelton and his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. The song also inspired Shackleford's 2013 book of the same name.

The Hallmark movie, which follows a businesswoman and a country music star as they travel to Tulsa, Okla. for the holidays, draws from both the song and the novel. Shelton serves as an executive producer on the film.

Shackleford told Country Living that while the film is "mostly all fiction" the movie's lead male character, Heath Sawyer (Josh Henderson) shares traits with Shelton himself.
