Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Have Chosen a Wedding Song and it's an '80s Classic

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have apparently already chosen their wedding song and, according to Shelton, it's an '80s pop classic.

The country star and The Voice coach stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and told the talk show host that he and Stefani's song of choice is a love song from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack.

"It's 'If You Leave' from the Pretty In Pink soundtrack," Shelton said. "I swear I have it right here. ... We've talked about this, we both love the song. We're both fans of the '80s, why not, why not?"

In March, Shelton revealed that he and Stefani are hoping to tie the knot this year. The country superstar told NBC's Today With Hoda & Jenna that he and Stefani hope to get married "this summer."

"With COVID-19, it looks like it may be OK, but I don't know. So, that's tentatively the plan. We'll see," Shelton said (quote via Entertainment Tonight). "I'm afraid if she and I wait until next November, then I'm right back into The Voice cycle again. And I really want to be able to have plenty of time before and after."

The "God's Country" singer said he looks forward to living a simpler life out of the spotlight with his bride-to-be.

"I hope that's not too far down the road. Ten years sounds like way too long to me," Shelton said. "I'd like to see that sooner than later. I mean, we've both pretty much taken it to the limit as far as our careers go, and touring and now the television thing. It's been fortunate to accomplish a lot of things, but hopefully at some point we'll get a chance to live some life. And I think we're both ready for that, honestly."

Shelton shared the news of their engagement on social media on Oct. 27, 2020.

"Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020...And the rest of my life...I love you. I heard a YES!" Shelton wrote.

Shelton shared a photo of him kissing Stefani and her showing off her engagement ring.

In her own social media post, Stefani shared the same photo with the caption "yes, please."

Gwen and Blake's Love Story

Shelton and Stefani first met on the set of the NBC singing competition. In 2015, both Shelton and Stefani were going through divorces. Shelton split from his wife of four years, Miranda Lambert. Stefani, who rose to fame as the lead singer of No Doubt, split from Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage.

"Gwen saved my life," the Oklahoma native said in a 2016 interview with Billboard. "Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can't even imagine the similarities in our divorces."

The "God's Country" singer has also helped Stefani raise her three children: Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. The singer praised Shelton in a 2020 Father's Day post.

"Happy father's day Blake Shelton. Thank u for helping me raise these boys!," read Stefani's social media post, which accompanied eight photos of Shelton doing co-parenting stuff.

Shelton has credited Stefani for turning his life around.

"I don't want to remember what I was like before Gwen, actually," Shelton told Entertainment Tonight.

Stefani echoes the country singer's sentiment.

"Like, we're just having the time of our lives, and we never expected that this late in our lives, so we're just trying to savor every moment together, and just to be back on The Voice as well — not to change the subject — but working together again has been really fun, and I love being here and I love being with him," Stefani said in a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight.

The couple have released two recent duets: "Nobody But You" and  "Happy Anywhere." In 2017, Stefani released "You Make it Feel Like Christmas," featuring Shelton.
