Blake Shelton Says Award Shows Are 'Beginning to Lose Credibility'

After winning Collaborative Video of the Year with Gwen Stefani for "Nobody But You" during the 2020 CMT Music Awards, Blake Shelton spoke about the importance of fan-voted award shows. While he didn't name names, the country star said he believes some award shows have lost credibility.

"I really do believe that these awards shows are beginning to lose credibility over the last few years and fan-voted awards to me are really the only stand-up awards shows left in our industry it feels like sometimes," Shelton said during his acceptance speech. "Because you guys are the ones who buy the records, you come to the shows, and you vote on all these things. We love y'all so much."

The 2020 CMT Music Awards, hosted by Kane Brown, Ashley McBryde and Sarah Hyland, aired on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The show was filmed in Nashville, Tennessee and surrounding areas.
