Billy Ray Cyrus is opening up about his highs and lows. That includes a moment he says he hit the bottom after his second divorce.

But the musician says he has bounced back and is happy where he is. Now, he's speaking with People as a look at his career.
"I had entered a period where I hadn't worked for a really long time," he told the outlet. "And then I realized today, I said, 'Cyrus, you're working now, man. Be careful what you ask for. You said you wanted to get on the ride? Well, here you go.'"
Cyrus split from his first wife, Tish Cyrus, after a 28 year marriage. Their union resulted in three children, but they called it quits in 2022.
"Sometimes change is scary, and I'll keep doing the wrong thing for a long time because I'm scared of change," Cyrus told the outlet. "But when I finally do get the courage up to commit in my mind and say, 'I'm going to do this,' then that's the way it is. No looking back. I think that's maybe sometimes good for everyone—to just let go."

Following his divorce, Cyrus went on a whirlwind romance and marriage to singer Johanna Rosie Scholem. In seven months, Cyrus went from a married man to being divorced once again. Their breakup was down and dirty and dominated the headlines.
"When you're completely on the bottom, that is the only way to go up," Cyrus said of the divorce. "Life is a series of adjustments, and I think my family always knew that. We've all been through a lot, and we've seen a lot. Whatever happened is in the rearview mirror. The past is over and done. The future is what we have, and we have to look forward."
These days, Cyrus is dating actress Elizabeth Hurley. They've been splitting time between each of their homes. Cyrus is happy with where he is right now.
"What more could I ask for? I don't have anything to complain about," he says. "I like how everything looks right now - I finally found this wonderful place where I'm happy."
