We all know that Dolly Parton and Billy Ray Cyrus had a pretty great relationship with each other. After all, the Queen of Country is Miley Cyrus' godmother!
So, given that Dolly Parton Day (9/25) has recently passed, Billy Ray Cyrus decided to honor her. He revealed a personal note he got from her all the way back in 1992, per Whiskey Riff.
And it's something that's near and dear to his heart, even to this day — to the point that it's something he's "never shared". "I've posted one of my most prized possessions before: a handwritten letter from Johnny Cash. This one sits right behind it," he explained.
"To me, they go together: Brother Cash and Sister Parton. They are the hearts and minds of two of my heroes that both took the time to express their most personal and sincere thoughts to an ole Kentucky Boy."
He went on to explain the circumstances in which he received the note. "Dolly Parton gave it to me just a few weeks after we first met in Chicago in the spring of 1992. Achy Breaky Heart was just beginning to take off, and Some Gave All hadn't even been released yet." Quite the early part of his career, for sure.

The Letter Dolly Parton Wrote is Super Sweet
Of course, in typical Dolly Parton fashion, she was sweet and polite in what she wrote — even apologizing to him. Here's the note:
"Billy, I'm glad to be working with you. I've been looking forward to it for a few weeks now. I'm proud of what's going on with you. I too think you are special."
"I wish you even more success in the years to come. I'm sorry I stammered and blushed when I met you, but I'm just like all the other girls these days (just a little older)."
How sweet is that! It definitely makes sense that he treasures that note like nothing else, right?
And that was the start of a career-defining relationship for Cyrus. As he so keenly put it, "So many memories and moments with Dolly, from network television specials to Hannah Montana. More than 30 years later, we'd do our last song together, 'Christmas Where We Are'."
