Back in 2024, the "Lot Lizard" singer was diagnosed with colon cancer. He had surgery to remove it and underwent months of chemotherapy. Then, later that year, scans suggested that the cancer might have spread to his lungs.
In October 2024, Walker shared that doctors "poked five holes in my ribs, deflated my lung, sewed it back together, reinflated it," and took a drainage tube out for a biopsy.
All that effort paid off because Walker received some exhilarating news.
"I'm so excited to share with you that my pre-surgery diagnosis was incorrect. I've beat the odds, and to everyone's complete surprise, my lungs are cancer-free," he said.
Although Walker won't be totally in remission for another five years, he isn't waiting to make other positive changes in his life. We have the details below.
Joshua Ray Walker Is Ready To Share Another Health Journey
Walker started a new Instagram account: @400days.to.400lbs. In the first post, the "big, big man with a big, big plan" shares that he weighs over 600 pounds. As the account's name suggests, he is giving himself 400 days to get down to 400 pounds.
He says, "So if you want to watch an extremely fat man become a slightly less fat man, follow along now."
In the candid video, filmed on a front porch, Walker strips down to his skivvies. In the caption, he writes, "Consider this my before picture."
How Does Walker Plan To Accomplish His Goal?
In another post, the singer shared his simple idea to lose weight.
"The plan right now is to move more and eat less," he explains.
Walker's first weigh-in will be on Jan. 12, the day of his first oncology checkup of the year.
Walker explains that he created the account to hold himself accountable. The account currently has nearly 300,000 followers, so there are plenty of fans invested in the singer's journey. One includes another country singer who has been in a similar situation: Jelly Roll.
"You can do it brother," the "Save Me" singer wrote. "I believe in you. Let's go! Hit me if you need anything."
