After wowing critics, fans and peers alike with High On Tulsa Heat, John Moreland is ready to release new music.
His fourth solo album, Big Bad Luv, drops May 5 via independent record label 4AD. As with previous releases, Moreland produced the record himself.
But this time he chose to record the album at Fellowship Fall Sound in Little Rock, Ark. and enlisted fellow musician and mixing legend Tchad Blake to help round out a more evolved sound.
Known for his brutally honest, often therapeutic writing, Moreland enraptured audiences across the country with his brand of storytelling Americana. On Big Bad Luv, Moreland embraces even more of the rock n' roll sound he hinted at on High On Tulsa Heat.
And if first single "It Don't Suit Me (Like Before)" is any indication, he's painting a new picture. The optimistic song follows a bit of change of heart from his normal tone. "Well I used to have a prisoner's point of view," Moreland sings. "Now I only care for being seen by you."
One thing's for sure: whatever Moreland chooses to sing about, fans are ready to listen. He built his fanbase the hard way. Through steady solo touring and appearances, he earned a reputation as a true American troubadour.
And Moreland plans on hitting the road again after the release of Big Bad Luv. He'll travel across Europe before performing 16 shows in North America through June and July.
