Ben Haggard and Girlfriend Jeyda Beyzade Welcome Baby Boy, Liam

Ben Haggard, the youngest son of country music great Merle Haggard, now has a family of his own with girlfriend Jeyda Beyzade. The couple took to social media in recent days to share the June 28 birth of their first-born son, Liam James Haggard.

Country fans got their first glimpse at the littlest Haggard boy the next day via his dad's Instagram account. The photo shows Ben holding his nine pound, six ounce, newborn son. It's accompanied by this short yet impactful text: "Our lives changed for the better yesterday."

Beyzade later shared details of a challenging birth, plus additional photos of baby Laim, on her personal Facebook account.

Liam's birth caps what's been a fun social media adventure for Hag fans. It followed the pregnancy announcement, gender reveal, maternity photo shoot and other updates that offered a nice respite from the bad news and meaningless entertainment that normally clog up our respective social media walls.

Since Merle's 2016 passing on his 79th birthday, Ben has hit the road with members of his longtime band The Strangers. He's one of four Haggard sons involved in music, with the others being Marty, Scott and Ben's touring partner and band mate Noel Haggard. They're all undeniably talented country artists, and they probably get to call Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson "uncle" on the regular. Yet at the young age of 25, Ben seems the most likely to infiltrate Nashville with songs reflecting his father's legacy.

Ben currently covers his dad's songs and classic country standards, with plans to slowly incorporate original yet tradition-honoring material into his live set. With the way talent runs in the family, Ben has about 14 or 15 years to plan a set list beyond "Mama Tried," "Sing Me Back Home" and other Bakersfield classics for his son and future lead guitarist.
