Beloved Jeopardy! veteran and seven-time winner Courtney Shah has died at the age of 52. As reported by Us Weekly, she passed away following a battle with brain cancer.
Her daughter, Maya Shah, confirmed the news on a tribute site, CaringBridge. There, she wrote, "My mom died today, at 4:57am on July 22, 2026, in the comfort of her home."
"I don't know what you believe about death, but I like to think she's at peace now. We loved her in this world, and we loved her out of this world, and we'll go on loving her."
She also addressed all of Shah's fans. "Thank you for your grace in all of this. It hasn't been easy, it will continue not to be easy. Hug your loved ones, tell stories about my mom, light a candle, say a prayer, pour out a drink - find something that feels meaningful to you to honor the gift that was her presence. Tell us about it on here, or hold it in your heart just it for yourself."
This comes after the Jeopardy! star was diagnosed with brain cancer. Maya wrote on the page, "My mom has a brain tumor," when the news broke in February 2026.

She Was a 'Jeopardy!' Legend
Courtney's first appearance on Jeopardy! came in 2021, but she appeared on the show a total of seven times.
And the crazy part? The former Lower Columbia College professor had a seven game winning streak. In terms of money, that was $118,558!
She also competed in Jeopardy!'s 2022 Tournament of Champions, where she placed third in her quarterfinal match. That earned her an extra $5,000 onto her earnings.

One commenter wrote, ""This makes me so sad! I took a few of her classes at LCC and had her for history the same year she was on Jeopardy! As a long time Jeopardy! fan, I thought it was so cool to get to watch her on there. She was wonderful in both roles."
TV Insider also reported that one of her former students posted a touching tribute for the former professor. "I had the pleasure of taking one of her U.S. history classes. She was such a powerful teacher, lots of her lessons still resonate with me. Rest in peace, Dr. Shah."
