Beloved Christian Worship Songwriter Dead at 60 After Heartbreaking Cancer News

Brian Doerkson, the beloved Christian worship songwriter behind legendary worship songs like "Come, Now Is The Time To Worship" and "Faithful One", has died at 60. As reported by Christian Daily, he passed away at his family home in Abbotsford, Canada.

His family confirmed his tragic passing in a

post on social media. "On July 21st, at 6:45 AM, our Beloved Brian passed away peacefully in his sleep at his family home, surrounded by those who loved him most," they wrote.

"Thank you to the entire community around the world that prayed, gave, and sent incredible messages of love."

"Till the very end, Brian continued to love those around him, encouraging them in who they are... [He] shared incredible gratitude to those in the medical field who tried their best to help him."

"He was a beacon of light even in his final moments to his close family and friends, and loved well right to the end," they continued.

"May we all be like him, to love freely, kind, and grateful even in the midst of the hardest of times."

The songwriter was known for his work with the Vineyard Music Group. With them, he also helped write songs that "became standards across denominational lines".

If you're a regular churchgoer, you've likely sang some of the songs he wrote. Songs he wrote include"Come, Now Is The Time To Worship", "Refiner's Fire", "Faithful One" and "Your Love Is Amazing", among many others.

The passing of the Christian worship songwriter came after some heartbreaking news.

The Christian Worship Songwriter Was Diagnosed With Cancer

Several

posts from Doerksen's social media indicate that his battle with cancer was very brief. A post from July 10 says that scans had indicated "a mass in the pelvis". They also found "spots on the liver and lungs and close to the heart".

By July 18, Brian had "been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer". But, at the time, doctors were "still working to determine the specific type of cancer".

The Christian worship songwriter leaves behind his wife, as well as six children. All of his children suffer from Fragile X syndrome, which is a condition that is the leading cause of inherited intellectual disabilities.
