"I am not okay. Maybe I'll never be okay. I'm seeking help. Going to the hospital tomorrow. In this moment I am safe. By God's grace," Threets, 36, wrote via Threads. "No matter what happens to me, I will always be thankful for the extraordinary people in my life who worry, who help me. Thank you for your care. I will always love you."

The children's entertainer recently revealed earlier this year that he was struggling with mental health challenges. He said that he was struggling and previously considered suicide.

"I left [my job as a librarian] for mental health reasons. I was just really struggling in life, struggling at work for the first time, just started feeling burnt out," he said at the time. "And I think my plan was, honestly, to leave the world at that time. I planned to take my own life in March 2024, and I'm still struggling today, but it's led to a life of just traveling all over the United States, and now, I'm the resident librarian for PBS, PBS Kids, and also the host of Reading Rainbow."

Following his post, several people took to the comment section to share their well wishes for the children's entertainer. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown wrote, "If you need the help, maybe go tonight, friend."

We're hoping that Threets gets the help that he needs and is able to recover. Since 2024, Threets has been working with PBS. in 2025, he became the host of the Reading Rainbow. Originally, LeVar Burton hosted the program.

"Hope you are getting very thoughtful and tender care and that you receive all the help you need to make it through this difficult time. Thinking about you and how much joy and wonder you bring into the world," one person wrote.

"We see you, you are important and you matter!" another commented.
