Beloved Actress Dead at 67 After Cancer Battle

The actress was best known for her storied career in Broadway, where she made herself a legend when starring in many high-profile shows.

Broadway actress Gina Ferrall has died after a battle with cancer. She was 67 years old, according to the Express.

She was most well known for appearing in some pretty iconic shows, including Mamma Mia!, where she played Rosie, Big River, where she played Widow Douglas, and Les Misérables, where she played Madame Thénardier. Her latest and final show was Tom Stoppard's critically acclaimed Leopaldstadt in 2022.

Her death was confirmed by her husband, Kory Grossman. She tragically passed away from a rare and aggressive form of cancer known as uterine sarcoma. According to Cancer.gov, the heartbreaking form of cancer occurs in the muscles of the uterus.

She is survived by her husband as well as their beloved dog, Sully.

Tributes Have Poured in for the Actress

Several people who have worked with the actress in the past have posted tributes.

One wrote, "I got the blessed chance to play Bill to her Rosie in Mamma Mia on Broadway and she was a total delight and a consummate professional. Such a sad loss for our community." Another wrote, "Gina was an absolute light. I'll be forever grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her and witness her genius every night on stage. She brought so much joy to the world both on and off stage."

Others echoed this sentiment. "I met Gina when we both did Mamma Mia on Broadway and I couldn't have asked for amore welcoming and loving human. I will miss her so much."

Fans also shared their condolences. One noted that she was famous despite the tendency for Broadway stars not to be. "Sadly few Broadway and theatre stars get to be well known but she seemed to have a good run on the stage. And sad [to see] that the cancer finally got to her. RIP"

Other fans recalled having seen Broadway productions where she had starred. One wrote, "'She Loves Me' was amazing!!! RIP" Another fan added, "I'm so sad to hear of her passing, my deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and colleagues."
