Ferreira was rushed to a nearby hospital in Almas, Brazil, but later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
"The day was cloudy with a very calm drizzle," her brother, Cesar Augusto, said.
"She was combing my niece's hair when the bolt hit," her sister, Lana Leticia, added.
Augusto later took to Instagram to pay an emotional tribute to his sister, who was affectionately known by the nickname "Aninha".
He said that she died "doing what she loved most, showing love through something simple."
"Aninha is and was one of the most beautiful people I've ever known. Thank you for those 22 years of us."

Augusto continued his tribute by saying that Ferreira taught her family "so much in such a short time."
"You aren't truly gone. You live on in your son, in our story, and in a love that will never end," he added.
Ferreira had recently been crowned Queen of the Rodeo at ExpoAlmas, an annual agriculture and livestock fair held in central Brazil.
Following news of her sudden death, organizers of the event released a statement paying tribute to the young beauty queen.
"Her passing leaves a huge void among family, friends, and the entire community that had the privilege of knowing her," the organizers said in a statement.
"In this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with [her] family and friends, wishing them strength and comfort to face [this] irreparable loss."
Alongside her involvement in the local community, Ferreira was studying physiotherapy at Unopar University while raising her five-year-old son.
