In fact, per the outlet, "sand, hats, tents and chairs" were sent aloft into the air. According to the New York Post, some people were allegedly struck by the items that were dislodged. Nevertheless, people seemed to enjoy the spectacle of the enormous, powerful aircraft soaring across the sky and going through their paces.

Witnesses Described the Impactful Scene

One of those who was present talked about the alleged scare to the outlet. "I've been coming for 10 years, and I've never seen a pass like that in my life," was the reaction of Ashley Korn. "I literally thought we were going to be taken out by Blue Angels, but it was amazing."

Another spectator, Samantha Mayne, said this about the incident. "It was so big we thought it was Fat Albert. [Fat Albert is actually a C-130J Super Hercules jet that teamed up with the Blue Angels 56 years ago, per the New York Post. The flyover is reportedly an 80-year ritual at Pensacola Beach that attracts big audiences.] It was huge because it was so close. All of our tents got knocked down...It was worth it. It was awesome."

Yet another person, Lane Wilkerson, added these comments. "I'm gonna remember that probably for the rest of my life."

Someone else, Lillie Korn, mentioned, "It was thrilling. I thought it was gonna be you just watch a plane fly. But it was cool."

The Blue Angels Issued a Statement

The following statement about what happened was issued by the Blue Angels to WEAR News. "The safety of our hometown community, spectators, and our pilots is our highest priority. Team leadership is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review to ensure all operations adhere to strict Navy and FAA safety standards."
