Bassist Diagnosed With "Aggressive" Brain Cancer Amid Band Reunion

The band put out a statement on social media about her tragic cancer diagnosis. A fundraiser has also been started.

The bassist for popular '90s band L7, Jennifer Finch, has sadly been diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of brain cancer. The band put out a statement on social media confirming the tragic news.

"Our beloved bandmate, sister and friend Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer," the statement began.

They confirmed that she had already undergone "multiple surgeries and serious complications". However, they explained that "Jennifer now requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home support."

They announced they have launched a GoFundMe to help "cover these urgent expenses", as well as to "allow her to remain safely at home with the care, dignity, and support she needs."

The fundraiser is titled "Jennifer Finch vs Brain Cancer", and features an image of the surgery scar she already has.

In the social media statement, the band asked, "Please donate if you are able - and, just as importantly, please share the campaign as widely as possible."

As of right now, it's gained over $100,000. Commenters on the fundraiser have expressed their support for the bassist.

Michael Kozeluh wrote, "The music of L7 has been with me since 1989. They have helped me to get through rough times. I always loved the ladies of L7 for being strong, powerful and independent. My best wishes to Jennifer, i hope she crushes this nasty disease."

The Cancer Means She Won't Be Touring

L7's social media statement also had a sad announcement. As reported by Parade, the band had announced a nationwide The Last Hurrah Tour.

L7's statement explained that "[The tour] was planned along with Jennifer when all four of us were in good health and spirits." But because of her tragic condition, the bassist "will not be able to join" the band on their US tour dates.

However, they confirmed that Jennifer specifically asked them to "continue with the tour as planned." They added that they "will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority."

They finished the statement with a heartfelt message of support to the bassist. "Jennifer is part of our family," they wrote. "We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years."

We hope she makes a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with her.
