Missouri-based Bass Pro Shops is donating 80 boats to aid relief efforts on the Texas Gulf Coast.
The outdoor supply store announced Monday (Aug. 28) that they will be donating the boats to law enforcement agencies and rescue organizations in the hardest hit regions of Texas.
In a statement, the store announced they will also give $40,000 worth of relief supplies to Texas. The donation was made to the American Red Cross and Convoy of Hope, which is a humanitarian aid organization from Springfield, Mo.
Convoy of Hope has sent $1 million worth of aid to Texas so far, and served 20,000 hurricane victims. They have plans in the works to send more than a dozen trucks full of supplies.
Some of the donations from Bass Pro Shop include nonperishable, protein rich food such as peanuts and beef jerky. The store has seven locations in Texas including three in the Houston area. They will also be assisting their own store associates who have been impacted by the hurricane through their Bass Pro Cares fund.
Bass Pro Shops join other companies like H-E-B who are sending help to those affected by the storm.
