The "Copacabana" singer, 82, underwent surgery for a cancerous spot on one of his lungs, per People, two months ago. Despite Manilow's best efforts to get back on track physically as soon as he can, he has reportedly been advised by his doctor to give himself more time to heal. That has meant postponing concerts that were slated for "Feb. 27 to March 17," per the outlet.

Manilow posted a lengthy message on Instagram to his fans about the challenging situation. His disappointment in the unavoidable circumstances that are temporarily sidelining him is evident.

Manilow's Message to His Followers

The singer wrote in part on Friday, February 20, "Hi Everyone. Barry here. Just got home from visiting the surgeon. Very depressing visit.I told him that I have been using the treadmill three times a day (I have) but that I still couldn't sing more than three songs in a row before I had to stop. But I was sure that I would be able to do the Arena shows in a few weeks."

Manilow went on, "He shook his head. He looked at me and then he looked at the floor. 'What?' I said. He said, 'Barry, you won't be ready to do a 90 minute show. Your lungs aren't ready yet.'"

He added some hopeful news, however. The doctor thought that Manilow would be able to do concerts on Las Vegas at the end of March and more Arena appearances at the start of April.

The singer displayed his impassioned fighting spirit. He wrote,"But when I do come back,I will COME BACK!!!...So, I'm going back to healing."
