Barack Obama is talking about aliens again.

When speaking with Stephen Colbert, the former President of the United States admitted that if the United States had alien technology or if they had aliens in captivity, they wouldn't be able to keep it a secret.
"Here's the thing, for those of you who still think that we've got little green men underground somewhere, one of the things you learn as President, is that the government is terrible at keeping secrets. This idea, or conspiracy theory, if there were aliens, or alien spaceships, anything...I promise you, some guy guarding the installation would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens or spaceships."
Obama was then asked whether he wished aliens were real, admitting that he not only hopes aliens are real, but that if they did visit Earth, he could be part of the welcoming committee.
"I'm putting in a plug now," Obama said. "First contact. I think I would be a good emissary for the planet...I'm friendly. So, I actually think I could do a pretty good job. But it hasn't happened yet."
Honestly, though, if aliens were to touch down on Earth, it's highly unlikely that most normal people would be watching the news to see who was selected to greet them. We'd all be far too panicked to care.
Obama Spoke About Aliens Earlier This Year, Too
This isn't the first time Obama has spoken of aliens in 2026. In February, Obama shared his belief that aliens are indeed real.
"They're real," Obama said during an interview with Brian Tyler Cohen. "But I haven't seen them. They're not being kept at Area 51. There's no underground facility, unless there's this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the President of the United States."
In fairness, Obama did somewhat walk those comments back just 24 hours later. He noted how he was speaking in a statistical sense, rather than from a position of information.
Still, the question of whether we're alone in the universe continues to be one we seek answers to. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Obama has any answers for us. So now, we turn our attention back to the skies.
