Amos Ferrier, 38, had been working at Rick's Coffee Bar when he reportedly spotted several individuals breaking into his vehicle on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say the situation quickly escalated, ending with Ferrier being thrown from the hood of a moving vehicle and suffering fatal injuries.

Army Veteran Dies After Confronting Suspected Thieves

The incident unfolded around 1:30PM just blocks away from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.

"He was in the coffee shop and observed at least one individual, maybe two or three, but they had gone into his truck and took his bag, and he ran out to stop them," Tom McKenna, co-founder of veteran-focused nonprofit Every Third Saturday, told KSTP.

According to reports, Ferrier confronted the suspects as they ran toward their vehicle.

The Army veteran then jumped onto the hood in an attempt to stop them from fleeing.

Authorities say the suspects drove roughly a block with Ferrier clinging to the vehicle before he was eventually thrown off.

As he hit the pavement, Ferrier suffered a severe head injury.

Officers from the Minneapolis Police Department found him unconscious at the scene before paramedics rushed him to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police Arrest Two Suspects Following Fatal Incident

McKenna later revealed that Ferrier underwent "emergency brain surgery" but sadly "never woke up" following the incident.

Doctors pronounced him dead on Sunday.

According to KSTP, authorities arrested Riniyah Allen, 19, and Jalaya Frost, 18, in connection with the case on Tuesday.

Police booked both suspects into the Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Investigators continue piecing together the circumstances surrounding Ferrier's death and have urged anyone with information to contact authorities.

"Along with the family that we forgive the people who did this, we do want them to be held accountable, and we do want them to be caught and prosecuted for what they did, but we forgive them," McKenna added.

Ferrier served 15 years in the Army and completed multiple deployments to Afghanistan.

He later became the internship program director for Every Third Saturday, dedicating much of his post-military life to helping fellow veterans transition back into civilian life.

The nonprofit has since created a memorial at the spot outside Rick's Coffee Bar where Ferrier fell.
