California is currently experiencing an exodus. Not only in terms of those born in the state, but also in terms of businesses and television shows alike. Now, it appears that America's Got Talent could be the next big show to take its filming elsewhere.

According to TMZ, the show could move filming to either Georgia or Tennessee.
"Sources close to production tell TMZ ... the NBC competition reality show, judged by Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Mel B, is reviewing options to film season 22 in Georgia or possibly Nashville. We're told the move comes down to money ... with other states offering bigger production incentives and tax credits that could save the show a significant amount."
America's Got Talent is currently wrapping up the filming of its 21st season. For the majority of the show's two-decade lifespan, recording has taken place in California. However, rising costs and a growing number of shows moving elsewhere have likely piqued producers' interest.
Regardless of where America's Got Talent is filmed, they can be confident that talent will travel to them. The show is a proven pathway for aspiring talent to raise their profile while competing for a chance at the grand prize. A new location is highly unlikely to change that.
America's Got Talent Isn't the Only Talent Show Being Moved
While America's Got Talent moving state is still in the ideation phase, other shows have already made the leap, and that includes American Idol.
In a move that was recently confirmed to Deadline, American Idol is moving to greater Atlanta for its 25th season.
"The ABC show is moving production for its upcoming Season 25, which premieres in the new year, Fremantle, which produces the show with Sony Pictures Television-backed 19 Entertainment, confirmed to Deadline," the report reads.
Georgia reportedly has better tax incentives, which were likely behind the decision to move American Idol. As such, California must find a way to make keeping shows in the state more beneficial. Otherwise, more and more shows will begin making the move elsewhere in the country. Still, losing America's Got Talent will be a massive blow. After all, it's been a staple of the state's reality television scene for decades.
